Vintage Christmas day outfits for women
It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
Or so the saying goes. Christmas has a special feeling for most of us. This year might be a little different, without the pressure of a Christmas party look, as we navigate a time which traditionally is spent with loved ones when we’re supposed to reduce the number of people we see.
Although life might feel a little odd, we can all upkeep the tradition of dressing up for Christmas Day! A cute Christmas outfit is sure to make you feel wonderful despite the ups and downs that life may bring. Whether this year has been a whirlwind of changes, good or bad, or it’s been more of a full-on storm, here’s permission and our guide on making yourself feel special.
Because baby girl, you are.
Christmas day outfit, Christmas party looks or keep it casual?
Otherwise known as the classic festive top or Christmas jumper with jeans combo. We’ve taken inspiration from Kitty_B.Good & Lady EccentrikB with their outfit combinations. Both are wearing our Hug Me Baby jeans matched with a festive red top.
Want to feel a little more girlie? Our Black Darling skirt is a fantastic neutral base to build on, snowy backdrop or Christmas tree is optional (model Shirley’s Fun)
What to wear on Christmas day?
After more Christmas Day outfit ideas? We wanted to make this a thorough guide, so we asked some of the influencers we’ve been working with this year would wear on Christmas, and how they might spend the day. I’m so glad we did, they put together great outfits we would never have thought of. We’ve asked them what they’re doing on Christmas day & why they picked their outfits. Hopefully, you can find your perfect match below.
Miss Bee Townsend
A woman after our own heart with a passion for sustainable vintage fashion
A content creator and musician with a penchant for all things vintage glamour and Old Hollywood. Find her sharing fashion and beauty ideas that encourage people to pursue vintage style in an ethical and sustainable way. You can find her on her blog, YouTube & Instagram
Here’s why she picked them “I adore leopard print and I loved that the pieces were glam but cosy. Christmas in Burgundy is usually pretty chilly, so the hoodie really appealed. Plus, Christmas dinner in France consists of 6 courses over 8 hours on BOTH Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, so clothes that are comfy and have some give, like the top and skirt, are a must!”
How might this glamourous vintage singer be spending Christmas day in the perfect outfit?
She Walks Tall (Blessing)
Blessing’s name is no joke! Trying to crop her pictures to fit her full frame in for IG crops is difficult! We had the joy of getting in touch with Blessing over the summer of 2020, we’ve worked with her in the studio (you might recognise her face from many pictures across the website). Her super simple outfit of a jersey top & cotton skirt is lifted up to Christmas level with a select choice of accessories. Find her over here on Instagram & catch up with her fantastic blog here
What’s her line up for Christmas day? “I’m planning on splitting the day – spending the morning to early evening with my mum for a chilled Christmas, which will involve exchanging presents and cards, then digging into Quality Street, while anticipating her to-die-for Nigerian fried rice recipe for lunch and mince pies with custard afterwards. Later on, I’ll probably pop round my friend’s to see her, her daughter and her mum. There’ll be more pressies, food and I’m sure we’ll have a good laugh as she tends to bring out my crazy side!”
This vintage Christmas outfit was put together because “The Aurora is such a classic and I think it would be great for a ‘jeans and a nice top’ look as I think Christmas will probs be a bit more lowkey this year. I love that it’s all black- I’ve been really feeling neutrals lately and I think black is such a great colour for Christmas outfits as it’s so easy to style, looks great with sparkly festive accessories and is so classic.”
Can I pick a favourite? This might be it…
If you love dark glamour then you will have to know about Charlotte, we met her at LondonEdge back in February 2020 before the world was locked down. Taking inspiration from films and books, particularly the more peculiar, gothic and dramatic. She’s a makeup and fashion-focused content creator, who also offers her skills freelance as a makeup artist and model. Using makeup as an art form and a means of self-expression she’s the queen of character transformations and tutorials over on her Instagram page for a while now. Head over & give her a follow if you love all things fashion, home decor and a pet snake who makes an appearance every so often too!
So, why did she pick this outfit?
“I picked out the gorgeous Rosie trousers as I adore a high waist, and the wide leg goes perfectly with my collection of platform boots! I paired the trousers with the Scarlet blouse in the colour Dove, which is such a beautiful and unique piece. The combination of the two is so classy, with the festive season approaching it’ll be the perfect outfit to get glammed up in for dinner with family or friends!
You might know her actual name, but she’s Georgia Peaches around theses parts. The bubbliness of her personality shines through in her choice of colours. We’ll share her edits across our social pages & you’ll see that extra & less is more are not in this woman vocabulary. On heck of a badass babe, running the show with her own social media empire too.
Pre-pandemic you’d have found her performing up and down the country each weekend, vintage vintage & vintage style tunes. Now you can find her spending her time blogging and chattering away over on my YouTube channel. In her words ‘fashion is a HUGE passion of mine and I believe that vintage fashion is for everyone You shouldn’t have to live an era-appropriate /authentically vintage life to love wearing vintage clothes!’ A-men sister!
Beng very a much a lover of all colourful things! Georgia mixed together a bright combination the ‘fabulous Jill blouse and Katie skirt because I love a bright outfit for the festive season! Why stop at red & green when you have a rainbow at your disposal!’
How will you find her this Christmas? Enjoying ‘my favourite Christmas tipple, wearing a full circle skirt complete with petticoats so that I can have a jingle bell swish by the tree. This Christmas, I will be spending it at home with my favourite people, cooking a nut roast and looking forward to seeing Queenie for her speech at 3pm.’
